Aconex enables people working on a project to access, distribute and track their documents and correspondence electronically through one central platform. Benefits of using the system include reduced printing, storage and distribution costs, time savings by having instant access to information, and more control over risks such as disputes and delays.
The company is now the world’s largest provider in its space, servicing industry leaders such as Las Vegas Sands, AECOM, Parsons Brinckerhoff, Arcadis, ContourGlobal, IKEA and McDonalds Restaurants.
Over the past few years, Aconex has won more than 20 awards for its business excellence and the quality of its solution, including Product of the Year at the 2008 Construction Computing Awards. The company has 35 offices worldwide and services projects with a combined value of $220 billion.
What unique selling points do you offer?
Being the world’s largest provider, Aconex is able to invest unparalleled resources into product development. For clients this means an easy to use product; the continuous introduction of upgrades and new functionality to help manage information; and outstanding reliability and performance.
Ten years experience means Aconex has unrivalled expertise in good practice collaboration and information management. This is particularly valuable on large and complex projects.
37 offices worldwide provide a unique ability to service any project or team member, anywhere.
Only provider to use Akamai web acceleration technology, which enables users to quickly exchange and access large files.
Describe the services you offer?
Aconex provides a web-based platform for managing the large, complex flow of information on construction, infrastructure and energy projects. This includes documents, correspondence, tenders and workflows. At any time, and from any location, project members have instant access to their information and can collaborate with one another.
Every piece of documentation is captured, reviewed and tracked within a single system. Throughout the project’s lifecycle, Aconex maintains an audit trail of every document transaction – a record of ‘who did what and when’. This minimises the risk of disputes by recording what has been committed to and provides a single version of the truth.
Describe your target market?
Medium and large contractors, project management firms and asset owners, engaged on projects valued at $100 million+.
Government agencies undertaking capital works, ARRA and infrastructure projects.
How is your company planning for the future?
In the current climate, Aconex is servicing more infrastructure projects, with many connected to economic stimulus packages. The company is also increasing its presence in the energy and mining sectors, and expanding into emerging markets in Latin America and North Africa.
The vast majority of construction projects worldwide are still heavily reliant on inefficient tools such as hard copy and enterprise-based email accounts. This means that there is still considerable opportunity to grow in the markets we currently operate in. To facilitate this, the company is investing heavily in product development, to ensure that it has the best system available on the market for managing project information.
What benefits can you offer your customers?
Benefits of using Aconex include reduced costs such as printing, storage and distribution, time savings by having instant access to information, and more control over risks such as disputes and delays.
Day-to-day on a project, this means no more expensive print bills, no more waiting days for drawings to reach the recipients, no more hours wasted searching for files, no more disputes over ‘who did what and when’ and no more lost documents.
How do you support your customers?
Aconex provides training sessions for all project participants, followed by unlimited, 24/7 phone and online support. The company has a large team of industry specialists that deliver training on site or in our high-tech training centers. For larger and more complex projects, Aconex also offers consultancy services to provide clients with advice about best practice collaboration and information management.
